I have been teaching the elementary kids at St. Andrew’s for the past five years (or is it more than that?), and have loved every minute of if. I consider it a thrill to teach your children!
I am married a with a husband, 2 children, Andrew & Lauren (teenagers), and a cat. I am a college graduate with a BA in communications. I live in the village, and work full time at State Farm Insurance in Ballston Spa as an insurance underwriter.
I was asked to start teaching church school shortly after I started attending St. Andrew's and just after I had become a Christian. When I was asked to teach, I thought to myself, “These people don’t know what they are asking of me….I can’t possibly do this!” Although I am not a teacher by profession, God has been gracious enough to equip me with the knowledge and skills I need to teach the children and have fun, too! In teaching the children, it has also been a blessing for me personally. God must have surely known that to instruct me in His ways, he had to start me at the level of a child, and so teaching was the perfect way for me to learn.
Currently I am active in the parish teaching church school, serving as a lector, content-managing for the Cyber Ministry Team, and I am a member of the Daughters of the King.
My favorite things to do outside of church are garden, relax at our camp in Speculator, read, and exercise when the Spirit moves me. I have skied occasionally, but not much in recent years.
I consider myself to have a decent sense of humor (which comes in handy when you teach kids!), and to have a fair amount of patience (which also comes in handy when you teach children!). I am energetic and quite passionate about my faith. I am very grateful to be a teacher at St. Andrew's!
