2008 - 2009 Curriculum

This year the class will be looking at the Gospel lesson for each Sunday There are take home papers that highlight the meaning of the Gospel. We also will work on the following topics:
- Creation
- Jesus, Son of God
- Baptism
- We Are the Church
Each unit is a nine week, with take home cards to go with each week’s lesson. The Jesus, Son of God, spends several weeks on Advent and the Birth of Jesus. It also looks at the calling of the disciples and some of the miracles Jesus performed.
The Baptism unit explores the Baptism of Jesus, the significance of Baptism, and how the Easter story ties in with Baptism,
The We Are the Church unit explores why we worship, how we worship, and the things we use during our worship such as the Holy Bible, the Book of Common Prayer, and the Hymnals.
In addition, we will look at secular holidays such as Halloween and St. Patrick’s Day and show how they relate to Christianity.
In Class and At Home

Each week the students will get a total of three take home items that relate to the week’s lessons. Many of this years Gospels are parables and we will have special events that go along with them. For example, the Parable of the Wedding Feast will include a wedding reception complete with cake and favors.
Please check the “this weeks lesson” for details of what we will be doing and making. Most Sundays will include at least one craft.
The prize box is back by popular demand. For every fifth Sunday the child attends, they get to take a small reward from the prize box.
Class is fun and active. Please come and give it a try!
