St. Andrew's Church Military Support
“For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights. He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You give me your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great. You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn.” Psalm 18:31-42; 2 Samuel 22:32-37 (New International Version)

A Salute to the Troops from Fr. Mike
Fr. Mike – From Army Chaplain to Church Pastor
Hi, my name is Fr. Mike and I am the Rector (Pastor) of St. Andrew’s Church in Scotia, New York. Before being called to this Parish, I was truly blessed to serve as an Army Chaplain at Fort Benning, Georgia, 1997 to 2000. HOOAH!
Serving in the military is a high calling. Those in uniform are tasked with defending the defenseless and insuring the human rights of all. If you are presently serving or have served in the past, please accept our sincerest thanks.
Also, know that we realize the great sacrifices made by you and your family in the defense of this land. Military life is extremely demanding, putting great pressures on all.
We at St. Andrew’s are called to in some way minister to your needs. You are constantly in our prayers and will remain so. If you have a specific prayer need, post it on the Prayer-Share Board. If you need a word of encouragement or would just like someone to talk to, feel free to email us at FatherMike@nycap.rr.com or call the Church office at 518-374-8391.
“For God and Country”
God bless you,
Fr. Mike

Prayers for Our Troops
A Prayer for Our Troops
Dear Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen
A Prayer for Loved Ones in Iraq/Afghanistan
Gracious God, I ask that your hand of protection be on all those who are serving in Iraq/Afghanistan, especially ________________. It is hard to endure the separation from the ones we love and our hearts feel ragged with worry at times because of the danger they might be in. While our hearts are filled with deep love, our love alone cannot bring _______________ back to us safely. So, I pray that you will do for them what we are unable to do. I pray also that when they are troubled by fear, confusion, loneliness, and doubt that you will wrap them in your embrace until the time of turbulence has passed. May your love bring them peace and strength and the certainty of knowing they are loved. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

A Prayer for Soldiers with PTSD
Lord, so many of our servicemen and women returning from the Middle East are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. We grieve for those who died and those who have sustained terrible physical injuries but soldiers with PTSD carry scars of war as well - emotional and mental scars that are just as devastating. I ask you to heal the painful memories and the trauma of war that our loved ones and all those returning from combat face. Please restore their minds and emotions. Give them hope and flood them with your peace. Please provide for their every need and grant them purpose and a bright future no matter what has happened. You are the Great Physician who mends and restores broken bodies, minds, emotions and relationships, and we trust you to do this for all our servicemen and women. Thank you for their sacrificial service and for your faithfulness to all generations! We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
