The Way of Grief

- The Ecce Homo Arch on the Via Dolorosa. Ecce Homo is latin for the words that Pontius Pilate spoke to Jesus, "Behold the Man."
The Via Dolorosa is a street in Jerusalem. It sounds so beautiful..."Via Dolorosa." But, it is a very solemn and Holy place. "Via Dolorosa" is the latin for "Way of Grief" or "Way of Suffering." It is believed to be the path walked by Jesus as he carried his cross on his way to die for our sins.
Oh the suffering our Lord endured on this path! Oh the love he had for us as his feet struggled and strained along the stones of this road!
In Lent, we walk this road as we observe the Stations of the Cross. If I had been there, would I have wept? If I had been there, would I have carried His cross? If I had been there, would I have wiped his face? As I worship at the Stations of the Cross, I am there.
During Lent, We search our souls and seek to purify ourselves as we prepare for Easter. Pray and worship the Stations of the Cross this Lent. Join us at St. Andrew's on Friday nights during Lent at 7 pm to pray the Stations.
If you can't join us, then we hope you will utilize these 'Virtual' Stations of the Cross...a cyber-walk down the Via Dolorosa.
